WHERE WE LEFT THEM AFTER AVENGERS: ENDGAME

TONY STARK / IRON MAN

Where we left him: Making the ultimate sacrifice.

Tony's journey came full circle in Endgame. After taking the Infinity Stones from Thanos, he snapped his fingers and wiped out Thanos and his army, saving the universe at the cost of his own life.

The moment to remember: “I am Iron Man.”

STEVE ROGERS / CAPTAIN AMERICA

Where we left him: Finally getting his dance.

After returning the Infinity Stones, Steve chose not to come straight home. Instead, he stayed in the past, lived the life he'd missed with Peggy Carter, and eventually returned as an old man.

Before leaving the mantle behind, Steve handed his shield to Sam Wilson.

The moment to remember: The shield changed hands.

​THOR

Where we left him: Searching for what comes next.

Thor entered Endgame carrying the weight of his failure to stop Thanos. By the end, he began letting go of who he thought he was supposed to be.

After putting Valkyrie in charge of New Asgard, Thor left Earth alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The moment to remember: Thor stepped away from the throne and set off with the Guardians.

Since then: In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor lost Jane Foster and became the adoptive father of Gorr's resurrected daughter, Love.

LOKI

Where we left him: Escaping and re-entering the timeline.

Loki's Endgame appearance was brief, but it opened the door to something much bigger.

When the Avengers traveled back to 2012, their plan went sideways, and the Tesseract landed at Loki's feet.

He picked it up—and disappeared.

That single moment created a new branch in Loki's story and set the stage for everything that followed.

The moment to remember: The Avengers accidentally gave Loki an escape route.

Since then: In the series Loki, this variant ultimately sacrificed his freedom to hold the branching timelines together, watching over the multiverse from the end of time.

SCOTT LANG / ANT-MAN

Where we left him: Helping crack the problem of time travel.

For Scott Lang, five years passed in what felt like only hours. His unexpected return from the Quantum Realm gave the Avengers an idea that once seemed impossible: maybe they could go back.

That idea eventually became the Time Heist, giving the Avengers their chance to undo the Snap.

The moment to remember: Without Scott's return, there may never have been a Time Heist.

Since then: In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Scott and his family escaped the Quantum Realm after confronting Kang the Conqueror.

BUCKY BARNES / WINTER SOLDIER

Where we left him: Watching Steve pass on the shield.

After disappearing in the Snap, Bucky returned alongside the rest of the fallen heroes for Endgame's final battle.

But one of his most important moments came afterward.

When an elderly Steve Rogers appeared, Bucky seemed to understand what was happening before anyone else. He stood back as Steve handed his shield—and the future of Captain America—to Sam Wilson.

The moment to remember:

Bucky watched Steve pass the shield to Sam.

Since then: After The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Bucky joined the Thunderbolts, who were publicly introduced as the New Avengers.

​WHERE WE LEFT THE FANTASTIC FOUR

SUE STORM / INVISIBLE WOMAN

Where we left her: Back with her family after making the ultimate sacrifice.

When Galactus came for her newborn son, Franklin, Sue refused to give him up. In the final battle, she pushed her powers further than ever to force Galactus toward the portal, but died in the process.

Then Franklin did something no one expected: he brought his mother back to life.

The moment to remember: Sue survived—and Franklin's powers were only beginning to reveal themselves.

FRANKLIN RICHARDS

Where we left him: Face-to-face with Doctor Doom.

Franklin may only be a child, but First Steps revealed just how powerful he could be. His abilities made him a target for Galactus, and by the end of the film, he had even brought Sue back to life.

Four years later, Franklin was at home when a mysterious visitor appeared beside him.

When Sue returned, she found Franklin standing with a man in a green cloak holding a metal mask: Doctor Doom.

The moment to remember: Doctor Doom appeared beside Franklin.

​WHERE WE LEFT THE THUNDERBOLTS

YELENA BELOVA / BLACK WIDOW

Where we left her: Finding a new team.

Yelena began Thunderbolts* feeling directionless and increasingly alone.

But after being thrown together with a group of unlikely allies, she found something she hadn’t expected: a team.

By the end, Yelena, Bucky, John Walker, Ghost, and Red Guardian were standing together, with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine publicly introducing them as the New Avengers.

The moment to remember: The Thunderbolts became the New Avengers.

BOB REYNOLDS / SENTRY

Where we left him: Learning to live with the Void.

Bob seemed ordinary when Yelena first found him, but he was actually the subject of an experiment that gave him extraordinary powers and created a dangerous alter ego known as the Void.

When the Void engulfed New York in darkness, Yelena and the others realized they couldn't defeat him by fighting. Instead, Yelena and the others helped him confront the Void from within.

Bob survived, but his struggle with the Void wasn't over.

The moment to remember: Bob survived, but the Void remained part of him.

From old Avengers to new ones, the Fantastic Four, and a few unexpected faces in between, Doomsday is bringing together characters from across the MCU. We know where their stories left off. Now, it’s only a matter of seeing where they go when those worlds finally converge.
